Richmond Manifests (Self & City)
2019
As research and community idea generating throughout the Minoru Manifesto project, Richmond, BC residents were asked to create personal and community manifests. The hundreds of items listed by members of the public were compiled into two: things we have on us (self) and things in Richmond (city). These lists were then alphabetized (spelling, capitalization and punctuation preserved), lightly edited for length, and hand written on a 30 foot (10 meter) scroll by calligrapher Martin Reisle. This third creative partner introduced yet another round of variables, while the accumulation of ordinary objects took on a poetry and an importance in this heightened script.
